Invest & Invite

“i2” is a relational evangelism strategy mobilizing members and attendees of ParkwayHills to intentionally invest in the lives of non-Christ followers and invite them into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ, or to a place where they can hear the gospel.
What “i2” is not: 1. A program   2. An outline   3. An event
What “i2” is:  1. A strategy   2. A movement   3. Relational   4. Incarnational   5. Missional

The easy answer is “everyone we know”. More specifically, though, we invest in those who are outside of a relationship with Jesus Christ. Many of us have gotten so used to our “Christian Bubble” that we haven’t established many friendships with unbelievers.  Think of one person in your world (work, school, community, church) that does not have a relationship with Christ. How have you invested in their life for the sake of the gospel? What type of influence can you leverage to invest in their lives (prayer, serving them, setting an example, caring for a need in their life, answering questions they might have about spiritual things, etc…) prayerfully waiting for God’s leadership to offer an invitation?

Scripture speaks toward God’s people living out the principles of “i2”.

Matthew 28:18-20 (NIV)- “Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Matthew 22:37-40 (NIV)- “Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

1 Thessalonians 2:8 (NIV)- “We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us.”

Invest-
1.    Investing is all about relationships.
2.    Investing takes time and patience.
3.    Investing costs you something.

Invite-
1. Inviting must be intentional.
2. Inviting must be specific (to a person or to a place).
3. Inviting requires a response (and most likely repeated invitations).

Tell us the story of how you invested in another (your i2 story).
